What is a treatment like?

An individual Wellgood Work Reiki Treatment restores the balance and flow of your true natural state. This allows you to feel calmer, lighter, more spacious, relaxed, more at one with your body and being. Using Reiki on Acupressure points and Channels along with gentle movement work and reflexology, a session is a luxurious one-on-one time that can imbue you with a sense of harmony and well-being that you can carry with you in your daily life. A treatment can remind you of our connection to all of Life and the Universe, and the loving feeling inherent in that connection, through which all healing happens. Time is allowed for discussion of your particular issues and metaphysical ways to view them, if you desire. This can be empowering and clarifying.  A session lasts 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

To simplify, you will be lying comfortably clothed on a massage table. I will use a combination of Reiki hands-on healing work, on acupressure points and channels, and my training in Trager Approach to Bodywork (a gentle movement addressing the nervous system) and reflexology, all influenced by my practice of medical Qigong.

Treatments can be beneficial to children as well as adults.

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a gentle, hands-on healing art, which involves the channeling of energy through the hands for the purpose of offering healing to the spirit. This imbues you with the sense that you are well and in a harmonious state. The experience of this state is reflected in the body, and can have the effect of healing the body. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning "universal life energy". Reiki balances the receiver on all levels of being — physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Reiki may aid in relieving stress, emotional trauma, physical pain, and illness, and promotes a sense of soothing balance, revitalization, and harmony. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning universal life energy.

Reiki uses the universal life force, which is present in all living things, to affect change mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Reiki energizes, balances, and harmonizes the body, mind and spirit. It is very powerful and effective, yet subtle and non-invasive. All living things contain and radiate this energy, which is analogous to the concepts of prana in yoga and qi in qigong (Traditional Chinese Medicine).

Reiki therapy is a natural healing art that involves a practitioner channeling the life energy through their hands to the receiver.  By placing hands in various positions on (or slightly above) the recipient's body, the Reiki therapist becomes a vessel through which the healing energy flows, strengthening the client's energy system to promote natural healing.

The source of the energy is the universe, not the practitioner. Only positive, loving energy is transmitted to both the giver and receiver and this energy flows to wherever it is most needed for a safe, natural, and holistic path to healing.

What are the benefits?

Reiki strengthens the receiver's energy field and chakra system, allowing the body to naturally find health and balance with more speed and strength.  Reiki balances the receiver on all levels of being — physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Reiki therapy can be described as a synthesis of modern quantum physics and ancient metaphysics.  Reiki aids in relieving stress, emotional trauma, physical pain, and illness, and promotes a sense of soothing balance, revitalization, and harmony.

What is Medical Qigong?

Medical Qigong are the traditional exercises of Chinese medicine. They are  considered to be one of the most fundamental ways to develop the clarity of the Heart and radiance of the Mind/Spirit. Medical Qigong practices are used when there are challenges to our health as well as to develop our energy (Qi) and refine our potential for health and vitality.

This system of Medical Qigong has three interrelated goals: to enhance the body's self healing abilities, to increase vitality, and to cultivate skill in adapting to change. This is accomplished through gentle Quiet and Moving exercises that cultivate qi and correct abnormal patterns of qi within the body. Regular practice develops the Three Treasures of essence, energy and spirit and helps to harmonize the higher functions of the imagination, intellect and will with the natural wisdom of the physical body.

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers and hands to skillfully press key points, which stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. When these trigger points are pressed, even gently, they release muscular tension, promote circulation of blood, and the flow of the body's life force energy to aid healing. Acupuncture and acupressure use the same pressure points and meridians (channels of flowing energy), but acupuncture employs needles, while acupressure uses gentle to firm pressure. Acupressure can help to relieve pain, balance the body and help one maintain good health. Acupressure's healing touch reduces tension, increases circulation, and enables the body to relax deeply. By relieving stress, acupressure therapy strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness. Once can also do self-acupressure with excellent results.
